Chaplains gently relate with individuals from all walks of life, supporting and assisting the person to understand a sense of self, their inner resources, resilience and capacity to cope. They listen with their heart to the struggles, joys, pain, and journey along side with care and compassion.
Chaplaincy is pastoral care that offers emotional and spiritual support. Chaplains are not counsellors or therapists, though some may have these qualifications. They bring peace and a positive sense of wellbeing with no strings attached.
At the Blue Care facilities: Capricorn Gardens Aged Care, Community Respite Centre and the independent living units, the chaplain is available to support residents, their families and carers, and staff.
There are three essential values of care:
Hospitality which is about creating a welcoming environment.
Love which is expressed through compassion and empathy.
Acceptance of all people from all nations, cultures and religions.
Our Blue Care Chaplain is Rev Suzy Sitton
