Our Minister

Our Minister and Blue Care Chaplain: Rev. Suzy Sitton

Who I am!

I grew up going to Sunday School and youth group at our family church in Geebung, but like many young people, once I started work I didn’t have time for church.  The most incredible thing is that God had time for me.

As I look back I recognise some amazing sign posts in my life.  While studying part-time at QUT, I picked up a Crossroads brochure about travelling with the disabled and spent several years taking some of my annual leave to go on trips with Crossroaders as an enabler.   Every experience with Crossroads was a blessing.  My greatest learning from this experience was God’s love and acceptance of all people. God does amazing things even with our limited abilities.

One of my work colleagues asked me if you had to go to church to be religious.  My answer was ‘No!  I believe in God and I don’t go to church’.  But God had news for me. Jesus was saying to me: “Are you sure? If you want to know me and follow me, you need to have a relationship with me and the way to do that is to go to church, find out all you can about me.  Meet me there, and understand the true meaning of the body of the Christ, the Church.”

I did return to church and my ministry has been in response to God’s leading to be involved with young people through Crossroads, Sunday School, Youth Group, Young Adult Group, and Bible Study Groups, praying with the Elderly.  My ministry has involved shepherding staff at work in the Wholesale/ Retail Music and Book industries and the IT industry. This gift of the Spirit has been expressed in guiding, encouraging, caring for and leading others.

I love music, singing, playing guitar and keyboard.

In 2011 God called me to  serve in Emerald, Central Queensland and from Jan 2015, I accepted God’s call to serve at the Capricorn Coast.

It is with open hands and open heart that I share in the mission to which God has called me and calls each one of you.

My prayer is that together we follow Jesus, the Master Builder, who lived as a humble carpenter. As humble disciples we are to learn all that Jesus will teach us, to grow in faith and to love and to share the Good News of the Kingdom of God, in this place.

Together we will listen for God in the wee still moments and in the noisy bustling roar of life and we will reflect on what God is saying to us.

Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the love of God we take this journey together with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer.

Grace and Peace
